Gregory N. Daniels, age 56, of Moulton, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Clarence N. and Joyce E. (Winans) Daniels on March 4, 1957 in Independence, Missouri and was baptized into the East Gate Christian Church in Independence. He graduated from the Truman High School in Independence in 1975. As a youngster, Greg was an Eagle Scout and had the privilege of holding the ropes for President Harry S. Truman’s funeral at the Truman Library in Independence. He also was a ticket taker for the Kansas City Chief’s games.On October 23, 1982, Greg was united in marriage to Carolyn Wood in Moulton, Iowa. He worked for a time at Hormel in Ottumwa, Iowa, Rubbermaid in Centerville, Iowa, Rathbun Regional Water and Barker Company in Keosauqua, Iowa, then in 2000, he worked for over 13 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he was a proud member of UAW Local #74. Greg was a very active member of the Moulton Community, he served nearly 40 years on the Moulton Fire Department and was a member of the Sincerity Lodge #317 in Moulton. He was a member of the Moulton Christian Church where he served as an Elder. He and his wife, Carolyn helped each year with the Haunted House for the Chamber of Commerce in Moulton. Greg was a huge Kansas City Chief’s & Kansas City Royal’s fan and would watch them every opportunity he had.He was preceded in death by: his maternal and paternal grandparents.Greg is survived by: his wife, Carolyn Daniels of Moulton, Iowa; his beloved German Shepard, Dexter; his parents, Clarence and Joyce Daniels of Unionville, Iowa; brothers, Bradley Daniels and his wife, Kellie of Richland Hills, Texas and Kelly Daniels and his wife, Rani of North Richland Hills, Texas; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as a host of adoring nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10 am at the Moulton Christian Church in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 1 pm until 8 pm and the family will be present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.Memorials can be made to either the Moulton Fire Department, Moulton Christian Church or Moulton Chamber of Commerce and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
