Christopher M. “Chris” Bessmer, 67, of Morton, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at his home with his wife. He was born on March 28, 1957, in Sugar Creek, MO to Roger and Corinne (Martin) Bessmer. Chris married Linda Tobias on October 10, 2015, in Gulf Shores, AL. Surviving are his wife, Linda Bessmer of Morton; children, Halley (fiancé, Malcolm McFarland) Bessmer of Liberty, MO, and Corbin Bessmer of Independence, MO; granddaughters, Lilyenn McFarland and Alena McFarland, both of Liberty, MO; his four-legged child, Emma. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Patricia Tobias, Joan (Allan) Hostetler, Judy Hunt, and Morton and Janet Gidcumb of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, mother, and father-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. Chris worked for various Caterpillar dealerships. He raced modified cars at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, MO for several years. Chris was heavily involved with Boy Scouts. He was known for being a handyman who enjoyed tinkering around the house. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside will be held at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the American Heart Association.
