What we keep in memory
is ours unchanged forever.
Gone, but not forgotten.
Rickey Joe Lutjen, 65, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home.
Rickey Joe Lutjen was born on July 2, 1957, in Independence, MO, to Milbern and Jean (Davis) Lutjen. He grew up in Independence and graduated from Truman High School in 1975. Rickey continued with his education at Northwest Missouri State University and was in the AKL Fraternity. He met the love of his life, Roberta Nichol and they were united in marriage at Mt. Washington United Methodist Church in Independence on February 4, 1978. To this union three beautiful daughters were born. Rickey owned Royal Fire Protection, Inc. for 25 years.
Rickey will be remembered for his love of family and spending time with his grandchildren. He had so many friends and every friend has their own story to tell of time spent with him. He spent time hunting deer and quail, fishing and had a heart for sports, especially softball and football. He spent time coaching BSGSA girls’ softball, assisted coaching the Ironman Football team, served on the board of the BSGSA girls softball league and during his time on the Board he was able to develop a Competition B league. Rickey was famous for his biscuits and gravy, prime rib roast but most of all his gigantic cinnamon rolls. Rickey was definitely a man of chance. He always made sure to provide for his family and was there for a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen! He touched many people’s lives in his lifetime always willing to help in any way he could.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Roberta Lutjen; three daughters, Jennifer (John Migliaccio) Buys, Alissa (Doug) Braa, Kristy (Marcus) Wilkerson; 11 grandchildren, Madison Buys, Baylee Buys, Brody Braa, Hadley Braa, Kaden Lutjen-Williams, Roman Johnson, Jeslyn Lutjen-Johnson, Isabella Wilkerson, Ashton Johnson, Andre Wilkerson, Elijah Migliaccio; sister, Bonnie (Bob) Knox; mother-in-law, Nancy Nichol; his beloved four-legged son, Jack and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rickey is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Lutjen and father-in-law C.E. Nichol.
